Why is time tracking for security guards different?
Guards work at client premises, often alone, on 12- or 24-hour shifts, sometimes with no time clock or reliable network. Yet the company must prove to the client that the post was manned, and pay the guard correctly.
A spreadsheet cuts shifts in two, loses track of rotations and leaves night and public holiday hours to be counted by hand.
How does TEMPO count a 24-hour shift?
A guard shift is a shift that can end the next day, and the whole shift belongs to the day it starts.
Example: an 8 am – 8 am shift, with a clock-in at 7:55 am and a clock-out at 8:03 am the next day, gives a single day of 24 h 08: 24 regular hours and 8 minutes of overtime, with no anomaly on the following rest day.
How do you organize 24/48 or 12/24 rotations?
With a repeating work cycle: a 24/48 rotation fits in three days (Shift, Rest, Rest). Each guard starts the cycle on their own day, and the manager adjusts replacements in the schedule grid.
Overtime is counted per day or per week, beyond 44 hours (article 184 of the Labour Code).
How do you prove a guard is present at a client site?

Each guarded location becomes a site in TEMPO, with its position and a perimeter radius.

Is a time clock at the client’s site possible?
Yes, for a fixed, long-term post such as a residence gatehouse. A Hikvision time clock sends its punches over the internet, on the client’s network or a 4G router, with no open port: the simplest option at a third party’s premises. For an outdoor time clock, choose a weatherproof model.
