AI assistant and HRIS: how AI helps HR work faster

An AI assistant built into the HRIS answers, in plain language, the questions HR teams and managers ask every day: who is late, who is absent, where to go for a task. Published studies show productivity gains of 14% on average, and up to 34% for beginners. Here is how those gains translate into staff management in Morocco.

What is an AI assistant in an HRIS?

It is a question box inside the HR software. You type “who was late most often last week?”, the assistant queries the punches, calculated days and leave itself, then answers in one sentence with links to the screens. It replaces searching through menus, filters and cross-referenced exports.

What do studies say about productivity gains?

  • NBER, “Generative AI at Work” (2023)

    What was measured
5,179 customer support agents equipped with an AI assistant
    Result
+14% requests handled per hour on average
  • NBER, same study

    What was measured

  • Microsoft and LinkedIn, Work Trend Index (2024)

    What was measured
    31,000 people in 31 countries
    Result
75% of knowledge workers already use AI at work
  • Microsoft and LinkedIn, same survey

Where does AI save HR time?

  • The morning check

Lateness, absentees and forgotten punches in one question, without opening three reports.

  • Rankings

“Who has the most lateness this month?” instead of an export to sort in Excel.

  • Upcoming leave

Who is off when, to organize schedules without digging through requests.

  • Getting started

A new manager asks where a screen is and goes there in one click.

Why do beginners gain the most?

In the NBER study, the AI assistant mostly helped recent agents: it puts within their reach what the most experienced already know. In an HRIS, that is the new store manager or the manager of a new site: they get the right figures straight away, without knowing every screen or report.

How do you make good use of an HR AI assistant?

  1. 1

    Ask precise questions

A period, a site or a person: “Monday’s absentees in Casablanca”.

  2. 2

    Follow the links

Open the screen mentioned to act: approve, correct, export.

  3. 3

    Keep control of decisions

The AI answers and guides; the manager decides.

How does TEMPO protect HR data?

The TEMPO AI assistant reads only what the user is allowed to see, replaces employee names with codes before anything is sent to the AI, stays limited to your company’s account and records every question in the activity log. For the Moroccan legal framework, see the data security page.

Questions fréquentes

Does an AI assistant replace the HR manager?

No. It saves the time spent looking up and cross-checking figures: who is absent, who is late, which leave is coming up. Decisions stay with the HR manager or the line manager, who opens the screen mentioned to approve, correct or export.

How much time does AI save at work?

According to the NBER study, an AI assistant increases productivity by 14% on average and by 34% for beginners. According to the 2024 Work Trend Index by Microsoft and LinkedIn, 90% of people using AI at work say it saves them time.

What questions can you ask an AI assistant in an HRIS?

Everyday questions: “who is absent today?”, “who was late most often last week?”, “what leave is planned this week?” or “where do I request a certificate?”. The TEMPO assistant answers them with links to the screens.
