Do working hours change during Ramadan in Morocco?
In the private sector, Ramadan hours are a company decision, or set by a collective agreement. The normal working time stays 44 hours a week (article 184); it is how the hours are spread that changes. The public administration announces its hours each year.
Common practices are a continuous working day with no lunch break, an earlier end of day before ftour and, for shift teams, moving shifts around ftour and shour. If hours are shorter, decide in advance whether pay stays in full or the hours are made up.

Start from your usual hours and decide the month’s hours team by team. An office working 9 am – 1 pm / 2 pm – 6 pm can switch to a continuous day from 9 am to 3 pm. A shop can move its evening shift to after ftour.
Settle before the first day:
- The break: removed, shortened or moved.
- Overtime: counted beyond the Ramadan hours.
- Communication: employees know their hours before the first day.
- The clock change: legal time changes around Ramadan.
